Rats and diseases
Rats and mice often live in the immediate vicinity of livestock and food. One rat produces a minimum of seven litres urine and 11,000 droppings per year potentially containing harmful pathogens. Contamination of the food production chain with these pathogens has to be prevented by implementing preventive or curative rodent control measures. In many areas especially in food production, sustainable rodent control has become a legal requirement.
