Rats – forage widely
The brown rat in particular often forages widely. Investigations have revealed that brown rats may roam as far as 1,500 metres in a few hours. They may visit different barns, feed stores, herds and waste heaps during one night, and may even venture into game feeding areas. Consequently, foraging rats may visit a farm that has no rat population of its own.
